Day 11 – A Game That Got You Through A Tough Time
I’ve talked about this a bit before, but The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion got me through some tough times. When I bought the game, I wasn’t feeling like I particularly belonged anywhere. I was an undergraduate student then and was struggling with some of my classes. My grandmother also passed away that fall—her death hit me especially hard. Being able to step into a fictional world as developed as Oblivion‘s provided a necessary escape and distraction. The game offered me an avenue to reinvent myself in a world absorbed with its own problems, and those problems could be solved. During that period of my life, that’s exactly what I needed.
