In a little over two weeks I will move from Michigan to Illinois to pursue a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition. I’ve wanted this for five years now and flirted with the idea for even longer. I can’t adequately describe how happy I am to finally be starting! However, this new journey requires some change for the blog.
First, let me say that this blog has blown me away. I went from blogging (through a different platform) for a year with hardly any followers to almost 50 followers on WordPress in a matter of months. Those may not be impressive numbers, but to me it is awesome, and I am grateful for everyone who has followed and commented. The discussions alone have been worth it.
With all that being said, I want to be as realistic as possible with the future of this blog. I haven’t forgotten how busy my life was when I was studying for my M.A. (hah, what life?), and I know what I went through then will only be amplified during my Ph.D. studies. I will not be able to maintain a schedule of posting twice a week. I’m cutting back to posting once a week, starting the week of the 31st. That may still end up being too much, but that is my goal once I get settled into the new place.
The reason I am shifting the schedule starting next week is because I have a to do list taller than me. Panic set in last night when I realized just how much I need to accomplish before I can move, and I’d rather not deal with unnecessary stress. I’ve made this move before but really need to get my stuff together.
Other than that, you shouldn’t notice anything too different here at The Gaming Teacher. I have a list of upcoming indie and AAA games to play and write about as they release, and I plan on posting the occasional update for what I’m doing with my classes in the fall. I may try to be more active on Twitter in the coming months, but again, I’ll have to see how everything develops.
Thanks again for sticking around. I really do mean that. You da best!
